Commenting on the decision to withdraw the event, organiser Nick Carpenter said, "We arranged the exhibition following direct requests from the industry for us to do so. And although we had received a high level of companies agreeing to support the show, there were a few exhibitors who had booked large stands, but who were not prepared to either relinquish the stand space or sign a contract.
Are regional events the future?
Following the recent announcement of a series of one day exhibitions, titled GPD (Garment and Product Decoration) which will be held at venues in London, Bristol, Harrogate, Scotland and Dublin. The question must be addressed, are regional events the future? "We believe they are," stated the organiser, Nick Carpenter. And the reason for this forthright statement, "When you consider the economics of attending a national event for many garment decorators, and in particular the heightened travel costs, bringing a roadshow to the decorator meets the needs of every facet of the industry."
